India: Best Market for Ecommerce growth

India was the best market for e-commerce growth as the industry was heading in the right direction, said Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan on Sunday.

"With GDP hitting 7.5 per cent and possibly 10 per cent in sometime, India is the best market for e-commerce growth. The increased mobile penetration will also help the industry grow," said Gopalakrishnan at an event here.

Govt won’t include personal care products under FDI

The government won't include personal care products under the policy governing foreign direct investment (FDI) in food retail, a stand that will disappoint the industry which has been asking for changes along those lines. "The policy is only for food products manufactured in India," a senior official in the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion told ET. "There is no provision for personal care or non-food items."

This runs counter to what Food Processing Industries Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal had told ET earlier.

Increasing UK Online retail sales

Online retail sales in the United Kingdom increased by 18.7 percent in July, compared to the same period last year. That’s the strongest performance since November 2014. The month-on-month performance of the British ecommerce industry remained flat from the previous month, the growth decreased by 0.4 percent.

The strong performance of the British ecommerce sector was driven by the apparel sector, where all sub-sectors outperformed the growth of the total market.

Sweden expected huge growth in Online food industry

One in five consumers in Sweden already brought groceries online last year, but the online food industry in this European country is expected to grow even more significant in 2016. According to a report by the Swedish Trade Federation, it’s expected to grow by 1.6 billion kronor, 169 million euros, during this year.
